Oppo,
Just got this car last night, was looking for a fun DD with good gas mileage.
I am not big into the whole Ricey thing, but this is an unmolested example and it is very fun to drive! It is in great condition.

Nice, always liked those. I had a 2001 Prelude in that color. Electron Blue I think.

Oh man! Thats when mine got totaled and it drove like the day I bought it. Seriously a fantastic car to live with, its so fun and unique. Keep it stock if you can because it will retain value really well... i paid 8400 for mine... when it was totaled 3 years and 30k miles later the insurance company gave me 10400 for it.

Actually not at all. The entire time i had the car i heard a soft ponking noise very randomly from the back, I had a mechanic investigate and he said it was nothing. Aside from that the car drove perfectly reliably every single day. It has a timing chain which wont need to be changes for a long time based on your mileage. I would suggest doing the surpentine belt if it hasnt been done yet as that is usually a 100k part. I did oil changes every 6k miles and never had any problems with that schedule. I ran 87 octane the first year but switch to premium and noticed a slight increase in mileage and the car seemed to respond nicer over time with it. the increase in mileage definitely justified the price. Your headlights look good but they do get foggy pretty easily so you may want to grab one of those 3m polish kits or have them done at some point, just makes the car look extra nice. I dont know what kind of tires you have, if you need new ones I would recommend Toyo's, i cant remember which ones I had, they were all season but offered great grip in the snow.
If you have the privacy guard for over the trunk DO NOT LOSE IT. They are almost impossible to replace and if you do find one it will either be Carbon Fiber or OEM and cost in excess of 200 dollars.
If you are going to do anything to the car make sure you keep every oem part. That means any exhaust, intake, rims, keep all the original shit so you can put them back on when you are done with the car.
If its not tinted I would suggest you do, the dark tint with that color blue is gorgeous, I had the same blue and it just looked bad ass.
My last bit of advice, and some might argue, but go bat shit with this car, push it, rev it up and hoon the fucker... I drove mine hard, and I mean HARD, for 3 years and 30k miles and never once did it show any signs of wear. That engine and that car can take a fucking beating so do not hold back cuz they love to get going.

Thank you so much! I have been looking online for some ownership experience reports and can't find much other than the usual "JDM yo!" crowds, now to be fair, I think a little JDM is fine, and makes the car look rather nice, like the red emblems on mine.
I do have the privacy guard! Sweet!
Anyway, I will be saving your post, and I will hoon it whenever possible!!

Hell yeah dude! have fun! If you ever have any questions let me know. Also, I have to check my storage locker but I think I might still have a set of weathertech matts for the SI....if i recall the fit wasnt perfect but they certainly did the job in the sloppy winter months, if your interested.
OH YEAH. The back windshield wiper blade. Go buy two right now. They are ultra small and incredibly hard to get your hands on... find them now because they are only becoming more and more scarce. If you need any other advice on this thing or if anything else comes up with it let me know, I will be happy to provide input.
You are one lucky son of a bitch to get that car in that shape and STOCK. Enjoy being one of the few and the proud.

I remember hating those when they came out, no "real" VTEC, no double wishbone front suspension, and what I thought at the time was kind of a weird looking body.
Weirdly, now all of my objections seem somewhat irrelevant. Now I look at that thing and think that it'd be a nice DD, not so hardcore as to be annoying all the time, but still sporty enough to put a smile on your face if you push it a little bit. And the looks have really grown on me.

My wife bought the first '02 in town, after 178,000 miles, it still gets 6000 miles to a quart of oil, 30+ mpg. The only things I have had to replace was the radio and a wheel bearing. Everything else has worked like new and it drives like new. She would think about it replacing it, but there is nothing that combines the small size and outward visibility out there. (sorry CRZ).
